Seminar Students Learn Self-Defense

During the high school seminar time, Reece Tedford, owner of Underdog Sports, came to Ms. Layton’s seminar to give a few quick tips on self-defense. Helpers Leo Reed, ’24, and Addy Shreck ’25, demonstrated for the class some of the moves they have learned in Tedford’s previous self-defense workshops held at his facility in Leon. Class size was limited to 14 so if students wanted to practice a few moves, they were able to, and a handful of students took advantage of this hands-on opportunity. Students were surprised to learn that verbal skills can often stop an attack and that when trying to escape a physical altercation that trying to pull away is often not as effective as knowing the right way to defend oneself. A special thanks to Reece Tedford for teaching CD students how to be safe!
