Junior Class Authors Pick Up Whitman’s Pen

Juniors have taken on Walt Whitman. They have learned about his groundbreaking style and his love for America and the shared experiences of its people. They are now tasked with writing like Walt by creating a poem similar to Whitman’s in style, topic, and theme. Before they write, they have to make observations about the world around them – what a great time to do this during Homecoming Week when school spirit is so high and analyzing the way people dress (our crazy dress-up days) and share experiences (class competition preparation) will be different than normal. They will present their poems in class on Monday. If you have a junior, ask them to share theirs with you this weekend.
