On Thursday, February 3rd, Reece Tedford, TRIO advisor for Central Decatur, along with two helpers, conducted mock interviews with Ms. Layton’s Speech class. Students prepared resumes and indicated what position they desired. They were then interviewed one-on-one and were evaluated on their posture, positive attitude, confidence, courtesy, handshake, speech volume, ability to communicate, academic preparations, being informed about the career, having related experience, sharing well-defined goals, asking relevant questions, and overall appearance.
Students received their written feedback and were told whether they would have been hired. Practicing the interview process is an invaluable experience for Central Decatur students and an important part of learning employability skills and being college and career ready.
