Cross-Building Collaboration Jump Starts Fall Transitions

Third and seventh graders are in new buildings this fall, but most are finding themselves in somewhat familiar territory. Thanks to collaboration across grade levels, incoming students were able to explore their new buildings before the end of last school year. Students reported feeling more ready to make the change in grades and buildings after participating in activities in their new buildings.

Sixth Graders Take Middle School Tours

This fall’s seventh graders were welcomed to middle school last spring by the secondary principal, Mr. Johnson, and guidance counselor, Mrs. Elsberry. Time at the middle school included many essential guest speakers. Joy Evertsen, food and nutrition manager, explained the lunch procedures. Office protocol and use was described by office manager Shondell Martin. Zach Clark, activities director, explained middle school sports requirements and schedules.

On one visit, second graders ate lunch and played on the playground. During a follow-up visit, they returned to meet each third grade teacher and learn about the classrooms, and ask questions.  Second graders made their third and final trip to North Elementary to attend the annual fifth grade plant palooza, locate classrooms and play on the playground.
