Members of the Central Decatur Junior High Rodeo Team converged on Marshalltown, IA for the Iowa High School Junior High Rodeo Association Finals on May 27-29. Junior High Rodeo Contestants were vying for a spot in the Top 4 positions, which would advance them to the the National High School Rodeo Association Junior High Division Finals held in Perry, GA on June 18-23.
Coming out on top and advancing to the NHSRA Junior High Division Finals will be Kinlee Allen ’29 and Krey Hunt ’27! Kinlee will be representing the State of Iowa in Barrel Racing where she finished 3rd in the State and Pole Bending where she finished 4th in the State. Kinlee was also given the distinguished honor of being named Rookie of the Year!
Krey also advanced, and will represent the State of Iowa in the Boy’s Breakaway Roping where he was named the Champion Boy’s Breakaway Roper for the State of Iowa. Krey will also represent the State of Iowa in the Team Roping where he finished 2nd overall!
At the Iowa High School Junior High Rodeo Association Finals Kinlee also competed in the Girl’s Goat Tying and Ribbon Roping, while Krey also competed in the Boy’s Goat Tying, Ribbon Roping, and Chute Dogging.
Central Decatur Community School was also well represented by Central Decatur Rodeo Team Members Riley Benda ’27, Landi Leeper ’28, Madison Horton ’28, ad Haley Bettin ’27. Landi completed her reign as the 2022-2023 Iowa High School Junior High Rodeo Association Princess and also competed in Girl’s Goat Tying, Pole Bending and Barrel Racing. Riley Benda made her mark in the Girl’s Goat Tying, Barrel Racing and Pole Bending. Madison Horton competed in Girl’s Goat Tying and Barrel Racing, and Haley Bettin joined the team this spring and competed in Girl’s Goat Tying and Barrel Racing.
