FFA Hosts Petting Zoo for Residents and Pre-School

On Thursday, September 19th, members of the Central Trail FFA and Central Decatur agriculture classes put together a petting zoo for Central Decatur Pre-School students and many residents of the Terrace Park Assisted Living and West View Acres. Holding this petting zoo allows our members to bring in various animals from dogs to horses, learning experiences from ATV safety, and roping.

As our members divided and conquered, we were able to bring many smiles to those who are unable to see their animals at this point, as well as many who may have animals at home but still strive to learn more about them. For our FFA chapter as a whole, this opportunity is not only great for the main audience but especially for the members themselves. It allows us to connect with the future of agriculture, as well as the former members of the industry. Seeing the excitement on the students’ faces and hearing the stories of resident’s past animals or farms is always something to look forward to.

We are grateful for this opportunity granted by our agriculture teacher and FFA Advisor, Ms. Sondag, as well as our school administration for understanding and enabling our passion for teaching the younger generation all about agriculture.
