Decatur County’s rolling hills and opportunities for outdoor recreation make this area an ideal location to live, work and play. Outdoor adventure can be found at any of our local parks including Nine Eagles State Park, Little River Lake and Slip Bluff Park. Nine Eagles State Park boasts the state’s cleanest impounded water source and is located in the southern part of Decatur County. Little River Lake sits just one mile west of Leon and is well known for its fishing and wildlife. Slip Bluff Park is just west of Davis City. Recreation of many sorts take place at these local parks including boating, camping, swimming, trails and more.
The Central Decatur district includes many towns in Decatur county including Leon, Decatur City, Grand River, Davis City, and Pleasanton. The district covers over 60% of Decatur County.
Central Decatur Schools is located in the county seat community of Leon, Iowa. Decatur County and the city of Leon are approximately one hour south of Des Moines and just a few miles east of Interstate 35. Although the CD schools are located in Leon, the district comprises students from many towns.
