The sixth grade rocket unit concluded this week in science with the final round of launches. Students used two liter bottles to build a rocket that would be powered by pressurized air and water. The project included the study of Newton’s laws of motion and two rounds of designing and building in hopes of meeting the ultimate criteria of a 100 foot flight. The launches generated data such as estimated height (aided by the use of a clinometer) and flight video to determine which designs best met the criteria and constraints of the project.
