Plant Science Class Attends Soil Evaluation

Central Decatur Plant Science Students attended the 2nd Annual Graceland University Soil Health Evaluation held at Graceland University Test Plot on Thursday, May 19. This event was sponsored by the DEKKO Foundation in collaboration with Soil Health Specialists, Conservationists from NRCS – Natural Resources Conservation Service, and Graceland Ag Club. The event was orchestrated by Max Pitt of Graceland University, with assistance from Ruth Blomquist, Soil Health Specialist and Lance Porter, District Conservationist Decatur County. Agricultural students were given the opportunity to expand their knowledge of soil health, the importance of protecting our soil, and methods to utilize in order to improve soil quality. There were four teams from Central Decatur Community School competing in this event, which allowed them to earn money for the Central Trail FFA Chapter, due to the generosity of the DEKKO Foundation and Graceland University.
