CD Alum Returns with Self-Defense Lesson for HS PE

On Wednesday November 10th, Central Decatur graduate Stacy (Andrew) Purdom ’94, and her husband, Dan, came in to Central Decatur High School physical education classes to give a brief informative session about self-defense and situational awareness. Students learned about ways to avoid dangerous situations, how to portray confidence in social situations, and how to maneuver out of basic wrist holds. Students practiced various punches, kicks, and elbows that they could use to defend themselves from an attacker. Additionally, Stacy and Dan demonstrated how to escape from choke positions that an attacker may put them in. Overall, CD students were able to learn valuable real world skills that can help keep them safe in the world.
