On Thursday, March 6, students and FFA members from the agriculture classes at Central Decatur Community School traveled to both the North and South Elementary schools to present the Food for America Program. Throughout the morning, the agriculture students and FFA members led presentations that covered various areas of agriculture and raised awareness about how agriculture impacts our world. Many different aspects of agriculture were discussed, including: shaking butter, cheese please, dirt cups, vaccinations, small animals, farm safety, show cattle preparation, oobleck, cloud dough, ponies and tack, hydraulics, ice fishing in Iowa, scoring deer sheds, feed sacks, fruit kebabs, biodegradable plastic, and bioluminescence! This is a day that all the students look forward to, as they get to advocate for and learn about agriculture in our world today.
