On Friday, students from Mrs. Carpenter’s CTE Business classes attended the ISCPA Accounting Showcase in Ankeny and stood out for their confidence, professionalism, and strong understanding of accounting and business concepts.
Leading up to the event, students explored fraud and forensic accounting. At the showcase, teams were given just 80 minutes to analyze a business case, develop strategies to detect and prevent fraud, and prepare a presentation to deliver to a panel of accounting professionals from Iowa Auditor of State’s Office, Casey’s General Stores, KPMG and others. Competing against 61 teams from across the state, our students delivered clear, well-researched presentations that reflected the time and effort they put in. They showed the RED Way in action—Respectful, Excellent, and Dedicated—while giving an outstanding first-time performance at the event.
Experiences like this give students valuable exposure to careers in accounting, business, and finance while building critical thinking, teamwork, and presentation skills.
Great job to our students for rising to the challenge and representing Central Decatur well!
