Pig to Plate Adventure

The Iowa Pork Producers Association hosted the ultimate pork industry experience for high school students on November 3 at Iowa State University. A limited numbers of students from across the State of Iowa were given the chance to attend the Pig to Plate Adventure, which included a commercial pig farm tour, a fabrication demonstration, a look into careers in the pork industry, and a hands-on pork cookery class. Attendees also had the opportunity to hear from Brett Kaysen, Senior Vice President, Producer and State Engagement lead at the National Pork Board, who shared the many opportunities offered in the pork industry from farm to fork. Students wrapped up their day by completing a panel discussion with multiple professionals in the swine industry. The Pig to Plate Adventure provided students with an opportunity to expand their knowledge of the swine industry, and we were pleased to have Hadley Bell, Annika Evertsen, Cord Hamilton, and Quinn Kernen involved in this event. Thanks to the Iowa Pork Producers Association for providing this opportunity along with a meal and a commemorative shirt.
