Southwestern Community College Hosts Eighth Grade Career Conference

On December 1st, thirty Central Decatur students attended the 8th Grade Career Exploration Conference hosted at Southwestern Community College. This was an opportunity for students to learn more about a variety of careers in the fields of education, STEM, transportation, power line technology, and agriculture. Each session provided engaging activities for students while presenters discussed career connections and opportunities, employability skills, high school course offerings to help prepare, and more. Additionally, middle school students were exposed to a college campus to get a better idea of what a post-secondary institution looks like. Thank you to the Workplace Learning Network and Southwest Iowa’s STEM Region for organizing a great event!
