This is the first year of Esports at Central Decatur and on February 21st, Varsity Esports had a Rocket League state qualifying match against Odebolt Arthur Battle Creek Ida Grove High School (OABCIG). The team, consisting of Thomas Dirkswager, Lance Reed, and Seth Dyer, played well and won the match 3-1! The team went 6-2 on the season and with the win, they qualified for the Iowa High School Esports Association (IAHSEA) Winter Finals tournament. The tournament will be held on March 3rd at the MidAmerican Energy Company RecPlex in West Des Moines. The team will play a total of three matches win or lose to determine their rank in state.
About Rocket League
Rocket League is a 3 vs 3 RC Car soccer game. Each game has a five minute timer and each match will be best out of five games. The first person to win three games is the winner of the match. If there is a tie at the end of the five minutes, the game will go into overtime in which the first team to score a goal is the winner.
