Currently, students in Mrs. Bell’s Food and Nutrition class are studying the role of protein as part of a healthy diet. For one of the labs for the unit, students worked in small groups to design a smoothie breakfast bowl. As part of the planning, students researched the origin of this breakfast option and the health benefits of consuming low fat Greek yogurt as compared to regular yogurt as well as the additional nutrients that can be added to this breakfast or snack option. The protein until will also include labs incorporating black beans into a brownie recipe, a grilled Pork Burger Challenge, and cooking with quinoa.
