The election will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and eligible voters will need a valid ID to cast a ballot.
Polling locations can be found on the Decatur County Auditor’s website, at https://www.decaturcountyiowa.gov/56246/polling-locations-and-map.
If you are not registered to vote, you can complete a registration form and return it to the Decatur County Auditor’s Office before October 20. You may also register on election day at your polling location.
Registered voters may request a mailed absentee ballot ahead of election day through the Decatur County Auditor’s Office. The first day voters can request a mailed absentee ballot is August 25. Ballots will be mailed starting October 14.
To receive a mailed absentee ballot, complete a request form and return it to your county auditor’s office. The deadline to request a mailed ballot is October 19. Ballots must be received by the auditor’s office before polls close at 8:00 p.m. on election day to be considered for counting.
You may cast an absentee ballot in person at our office before any election. You must vote your absentee ballot at the auditor’s office. You cannot take the ballot home with you.
