Central Decatur Hosts Pride of Iowa Honor Choir

he Pride of Iowa Honor Choir was hosted by Central Decatur Community School this year. Students from schools in the conference attended to work with a guest director and perform in a concert at the end of the day.  Music pieces were selected in advance and students learned them before going to the honor choir.  Upon arrival they were placed in their sections among the other students and began rehearsing the songs.  They worked as a group and also in sectionals to work to solidify parts.

The guest director was Dr. Tim McMillin who used to teach at Simpson college and currently is the Artistic Director and Conductor for the Des Moines Vocal Arts Ensemble.  He did a great job encouraging the students to do their very best and put the finishing touches on their songs.

The Graceland Harmonium ensemble opened the concert under the director of Lauren Clarkwhich which gave the students a wonderful opportunity to hear a college level group.  The Pride of Iowa Honor Choir closed the concert with their five songs.

The CD students worked hard throughout the day and were great representatives for our school.
