Agriculture Students Complete Soil Health Evaluation at Graceland University

Agriculture students from the Plant Science course recently visited Graceland University for Soil Health Evaluation Day, where they had the opportunity to work alongside NRCS professionals to learn about evaluating soil health. The students participated in activities like testing soil compaction, identifying soil structure, counting soil midden, counting cover crop stems, and averaging crop residue percentages. Working in teams, they completed tasks and competed in the process.

In addition to the hands-on learning, Graceland University Agriculture Business generously provided door prizes for students who attended, adding an extra layer of excitement to the day. They also made a donation to the Central Trail FFA chapter in recognition of the students’ participation. It was a day filled with valuable experiences and community support that helped strengthen the students’ skills and connections in the agricultural field.
